Midweek Madness Special Wednesday Race

The first "Spring Drizzle Summer Sizzle" Wednesday make-up series took place last night and Flash In The Pan Motorsports Street Stock #M80 was finally able to get in some racing. Unfortunately, on the last lap of the heat race, Driver Tom Durko got tangled up with another car, causing the #M80 to head to the pits. Upon inspection by Crew Chief Jamie Moravasik, a large hole was found in the radiator, which put an early end to the nite.

Once a new radiator is secured (within a week or two) the Flash In The Pan Motorsports Street Stock #M80 will be back on track.

June 14th Rained Out

It was close but no cigar on Saturday at New Egypt Speedway: the gates opened, the crowd filed in, and wheels actually turned on the track before severe thunderstorms emptied the facility. It was the fourth Saturday in a row that racing action succumbed to wet weather at the central Jersey track. Rainchecks will be honored for any Saturday night show for the remainder of the season.

Flash In The Pan Motorsports was able to get the #m80 Super Stock out on the track for a few laps in the heat race before the rain hit. Hopefully next week Mother Nature will allow us to complete a full bill of racing.

Next Race: Saturday, June 21

Cream Ridge Golf Club's Father's Day weekend tribute, rained out on June 14, will now run next week in conjunction with Vespia Tire & Auto Care's King of the Crew Chiefs Challenge. Dads of drivers will gear up again to race Cream Ridge Golf Club's Senior Masters Challenge, while the mechanics behind the scenes will be in the spotlight for Vespia's timed pitstop contest, with a
big cash prize going to the King of the Crew Chiefs. A full bill of Modified, Sportsman, Super Stock and SS Sprint action is on the card - so get ready for a jam-packed night of racing thrills! Gates open at 3:30 pm and the first race is 5:30 pm. Adult admission is $16, children 7-12 are $5, and kids 6 and under are free.

Rogers Appliances Big Bang holiday special winds up the month with fabulous fireworks and a Big Bang Bonanza match race for Modifieds on June 28. For more information on any of the above programs, call the New Egypt Speedway office at (609) 758-1900.

EAST WINDSOR SPEEDWAY TO REMAIN DIRT TRACK - SEASON OPENER TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON

EAST WINDSOR, N.J. ~ East Windsor Speedway owner Don Jones and promoter Jim Cardinale have announced that their famous half-mile oval will remain dirt surfaced and will open for the 2003 season as soon as a pending legal matter is finalized. Jones mentioned that he had hoped that the legal matter would have been finalized long ago, but several cancellations have held up plans for the 2003 season.

Jones promised that as soon as the matter is finalized, a revised schedule and opening date would be announced. Cardinale did mention that when the track can open the season, racecar rules will remain the same as they were last year. Those rules allow just about any Big-Block Modified, Small-Block Modified, Sportsman car or Street Stock that race in the area to compete at the track. The big rule change for 2003, according to Cardinale, is that the track will be moving to an "open tire" rule. According to Cardinale, that means that tires used at any area speedway will be legal, with the exception of large "drag tires." Those "drag tires" will not be allowed.

Jones also noted that fans should look forward to the debut of a new East Windsor Speedway website in the near future. The old website is no longer in operation as speedway management is busy setting up the new Internet outlet.

Located just minutes from Exit 8 of the New Jersey Turnpike on Airport Road, the East Windsor Speedway is easy to get to from anywhere. For more information call the speedway hotline at 732-521-0910

Flash In The Pan Motorsports Racing Team
Season on Hold

With East Windor Speedway's season in limbo, and funding at a low, the Flash In The Pan Motorsports racing team has decided to put a temporary hold on their racing season.

There is still no official word from East Windsor Speedway as to whether the track will be paved or continue to stay the dirt track that Flash In The Pan Motorsports racing team competed at last year, however, rumor has it that the track will actually be closing permanently. Whatever the case may be, the M80 street stock will be competing at 1/2 mile D-shaped oval at New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, NJ.

"This is only a temporary hold while the team re-groups and prepares for racing at New Egypt Speedway," Jennifer Moravasik, team spokeswoman, said earlier this week. "With the help of our two new sponsors - Lawler Direct and Princeton Marketech - we should be back on the track by the end of May to give our fans and sponsors a great show."

2003 Opening Day:
Friday, April 18th 7:30pm - CANCELLED

"EAST WINDSOR MAY PAVE TRACK FOR 2003"
This is the unsettling headline as reported in the Trenton Times on Monday, March 24, 2003 (see article below). According to the article, Don Jones, the owner of the East Windsor Speedway, is considering changing the dirt track into an asphalt one for the 2003 season, which was scheduled to begin on Friday, April 18. There have been rumors flying thru the off-season that this may be the case, however no one really took them seriously - until now.

This announcement was certainly a shock to everyone.

Should East Windsor Speedway decide to pave the track, the Flash In The Pan Motorsports racing team will not be racing there, but instead will be racing at the New Egypt Speedway dirt track in New Egypt, NJ. New Egypt's opening day is Saturday, March 29, 2003 - three weeks sooner than the previously scheduled East Windsor opening day. Although the Flash In The Pan Motorsports racing team has been diligently working thru the off-season to prepare the #M80 dirt street stock for the 2003 season, with this change in schedule, we will be hard pressed to make the opening day activities at New Egypt Speedway.

As the Flash In The Pan Motorsports team learns new information, we will keep you updated.
