A Brief History
In 1994,
Jamie Moravasik and Dave Durko (Driver) started an Enduro racing team.
They raced primarily at Flemington Speedway on the asphalt and occasionally
at Bridgeport
Speedway.
After
two years, Thomas Durko came aboard as Driver. In 1997, they switched
exculsively to the dirt track at Bridgeport and Flash In The Pan Racing
was born. For three years, they battled it out at B-port as a top
5 Enduro car. The 1999 season had its share of ups and downs. They
got their first win, but also got caught up in quite a few wrecks,
including one where the car flipped. At the end of the season, which
came early due to a cracked engine block, Jamie and Tom started thinking
about moving up to the Street Stock Class.
After
three years of hard work, they started the 2002 season with a new
car in the Street Stock division at East Windsor Speedway. After some
ups and downs, Tom managed to secure a few top 10 finishe for the
Flash In The Pan Racing team. In September, East Windsor Speedway
cancelled the remaining races in the season, and essentially closed
the track for good. When 2003 rolled around, the team kept hoping
that East Windsor would open back up, but to no avail. So since they
had a car and a driver, they decided to try the tri-oval at New Egypt.
After numerous rain-outs, last place finishes and DNQs, Jamie and
Tom decided to call it quits and part ways.
For 2004,
Jamie decided to go back to his roots and build an Enduro car. But,
after doing some research, he learned about a new class at Bridgeport.
The new Outlaw Stock class was very similiar to Enduro, but incuded
qualifying heats and shorter features. So Jamie built an Outlaw Stock
car and decided to try his hand at driving. After a few races and
getting to know the outside walls at Bridgeport personally, he realized
that building cars was where he needed to stay.
During
the season, Jamie went down to Delaware to check out a late model
race and met Driver Mike Williams from Maryland. Jamie invited Mike
to come to Jersey and jump in the drivers seat for an Outlaw Stock
race. Mike took Jamie up on his offer and wound up finishing 3rd.
So it was decided - Mike Williams would be the new driver for Flash
In The Pan Racing in 2005.
The beginning
of the 2005 season was like a roller coaster ride - winning heat races,
only to have mechanical problems in the features. After nine weeks
of frustrations, Mike Williams left the team. In the 11th week of
the season, Bill Miller Jr. jumped into the drivers seat of the M80
for the 1st time and finished 3rd. The following week, Bill finished
2nd. Needless to say, Bill Miller, Jr. finished out the season as
the new driver of the M80 Outlaw Stock, getting FOUR FEATURE WINS,
and taking 9th in the points race.
